By Shirley Peace, Owner of Piece By Peace Upholstery
Well, it’s normally a favourite piece of furniture that’s perhaps looking a little tired or dated.
Whether it’s a three-piece suite, or a favourite armchair; often it’s a family piece of sentimental value that our customers want to keep in memory of a loved one.
Re-upholstery starts with removing all the existing cover and interior foams where necessary.
Springs or webs are replaced or tightened and extra support is given to the seating and back areas are given attention and an overall renewal plan is carried out.
In some cases, there is extensive work to be carried out before the final fabric is replaced.
It’s a lovely experience to talk about the process of re-upholstery and even better to see it in person.
I have been employed in the manufacture of furniture for many years and have a wealth of knowledge of all aspects of furniture re-upholstery.
I established Piece by Peace Upholstery in 2018.
We provide a unique and personal service from start to finish and a rapid response to all enquiries large or small.
A customer’s first contact will be with me and customers are invited to the workshop where they are professionally dealt with from there on.
For the public we can re-upholster the following:
Full suites, settees, armchairs, chaise longues, dining chairs, seat pads, footstools, pouffes, headboards, conservatory cushions, outdoor furniture, cushion refills, zips
For the trade, such as pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants and offices, we can do pub seating, restaurant chairs and bar stools.
For motorhomes and caravans, we can re-upholster the seating areas (we don’t do driver’s or passenger’s seating (front cabin)).
Leathers: we provide leather made from Brazilian hides and colours across the spectrum. We offer a vast choice of leather – full grain, semi aniline; pull ups; and corrected grain.
Fabrics: chenilles, Jacquards, herringbone, velvets and others.
